hmm.. who would have thought that communication skills are important for devices too!

All the brouhaha about good communication skills sometimes gets my goat. But let's leave that aside for now. Ever tried connecting a wireless headphone with an old laptop over Bluetooth? How about getting two devices(from different manufacturers) to get to connect to each other to share data? These and many other such frustrating experiences arise due to communication problems which in turn arise due to the differing/varying protocols adopted by manufacturers which create communication blind spots to put it in layman's terms.
Our houses and offices and heck even the public spaces are now choc-a-bloc with multiple devices with different functions and while for the most part, they tend to get the job done, sometimes they create unintended problems. Take for instance the latest information coming out on the rollout of 5g networks in the US. It turns out that if the 5g equipment is placed in proximity to the runways, the 5g signals could interfere with the key safety equipment that pilots rely on to take off and land in inclement weather! Whoa! That does not sound good to me at all.
It seems to me that equipment manufacturers, protocol & safety regulators, and other stakeholders in the technology business need to get on the same page in the interest of consumers/customers. A firm plan with contingency plans needs to be chalked before rushing to release new devices or technology in the market space. Remember drones? Now everyone is screaming for geofencing drones from the get-go! BTW some radical terrorist groups are getting cheekier by the month as far their usage of drones is concerned to cause havoc in the lives of citizens around the world. Tech is good but not that good if rushing in is all we are going to do.
